We are an Outdoor Pre-School who follow the Forest School approach. This means that where possible, learning is initiated by those taking part, centred on the needs of the individual. We take a long-term sustained approach, inspiring the children through hands-on positive experiences. Surrey Hills Forest School is fully Offsted registered.
Our Outdoor Pre-School takes place on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 8am to 6pm during term time at Birtley Estate in Bramley, Guildford. (Read more about our venues.)
A TYPICAL DAY AT OUR OUTDOOR PRE-SCHOOL
Let’s take a look at what a typical Outdoor Pre-School day could entail…
The day starts with breakfast, if you want it – and who wouldn’t want toast cooked over an open fire?
Once breakfast is over, the children are ready to find out what fun is in store today. What will it be?
- Exploring the woodland
- Finding bugs
- Building dens
- Reading stories in the book corner
- Cooing over an outdoor fire
The children are hungry and thirsty now – it’s time for a snack and a drink. The children help with the snacks and can help themselves. Perhaps its fruit or breadsticks, all washed down with a glass of milk or water.
Back to playing again:
- Mud kitchen
Let’s wash our hands and wait for our food to be delivered. Our lunch is freshly made off-site, and is hot and nutritious.
What a lovely hot lunch. Time to play some more…
- Pond dipping
- Leaf and tree identification
- Pulleys and weights
Let’s wash our hands and see what has been prepared over the fire. Yum, Baked beans and jacket potatoes.
A bit more time to play, before we go home:
- Hide and seek
- Climbing/ Balancing
Home time, and I think I’m ready for bed!
Our Outdoor pre-School runs during term time, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 6pm.
