Our Outdoor Pre-School

Outdoor Pre-School

WHAT IS AN OUTDOOR PRE-SCHOOL?

We are an Outdoor Pre-School in Bramley, Guildford, who follow the Forest School approach. This means that where possible, learning is initiated by those taking part, centred on the needs of the individual. We take a long-term sustained approach, inspiring the children through hands-on positive experiences. Surrey Hills Forest School is fully Ofsted registered.

Our Outdoor Pre-School takes place on Mondays and Fridays from 9am to 4pm and Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm, during term time at Birtley Estate in Bramley, Guildford.

A TYPICAL DAY AT OUR OUTDOOR PRE-SCHOOL

Let’s take a look at what a typical Outdoor Pre-School day could entail . . .

Morning
Your morning starts with a welcome from your key worker and quick catch up of how you are and anything that we need to know from your parents/carer, then straight in to the first question of the day.

What would you like to do?
• Explore the woodland, looking for bugs
• Build dens
• Read a story
• Cook over an open fire
Snack Time
By now you must be hungry? Would you like to help prepare a snack for your friends?

It’s Snack time –  A choice of something healthy and delicious such as fruit all washed down with a glass of milk or water. If you don’t want your snack right now, don’t worry it will be here for you when you do.
Back to playing
Let’s get back to playing again. We could carry on with what you were doing before snack, or we could try something different?

How about ?
• Drawing
• Mud kitchen
• Climbing
Lunch Time
You must be ready for a break and your packed lunch now. I wonder what delicious food you’ve been given today. Let’s wash our hands – don’t forget to count to twenty. Eat up, we’re going to need a full stomach for all those activities this afternoon.
Afternoon
We need to wash up our lunch stuff first, let’s take our things to the sink and give them a clean, with bubbles and hot water.

Now we’re ready for afternoon fun, what will it be?
• A walk around the beautiful grounds of the Estate, perhaps stopping to play in the stream?
• Shall we pop in and see the residents of Birtley house? Perhaps we could share a story or a song.
End of the day
Not a lot of time left in the day perhaps there is just time for:
• Torches
• Hide and seek
• Climbing/ Balancing

You must be ready for bed by now what with all that fresh air and outdoor fun. See you tomorrow for more outdoor fun and adventure.
